LOUIS XIV, THE ENIGMA OF THE FORT ST SEBASTIEN AWARDED AT ICRONOS
The film is nominated at the Archaeological Film Festival of ICRONOS taking place at the end of October in Bordeaux, France.
Archaeologists near Paris have discovered a life-sized replica of the fortified city of Maastricht, European stronghold of the era! The ruins were a Roman-style military training camp built by Louis XIV for the instruction of his eldest son, the Grand Dauphin. But besides training the future monarch, the site served as practice for the revolutionary siege strategy invented by the Marquis de Vauban, allowing the Sun King’s troops to conquer Maastricht in a lightning war and ensuring Louis XIV’s domination over Europe.
