Coasts of France, a ten-episode series in September, prime time on Arte. |
|
This new series explores the coasts of France from above and from ground-level, showing the diversity of France's coastal regions in terms of nature, landscapes, architecture and culture. Each episode is an invitation to discover the history and culture of a coast, and to meet the people who, today, live on the coast, keep it alive and maintain it. This program sheds new light on the economic and societal revolutions that originated on the coasts and furthers our understanding of the environmental issues we have to face. We want to uncover the core essence of these seashores that have contributed to making France as a nation, and to probe the intimate and intricate relationship between French people and the sea. Deauville and Honfleur to the vineyards and mansions along the Atlantic Ocean, down south to Bonifacio's chalk-white limestone ans fishing activities, the viewer will discover the faces and facets of France - well-known and unknown, along its 5500 kms of coasts from Dunkerque in the Nord to Corsica in the South.
A beautiful series directed by Xavier Lefebvre.
The films will be available in DVD early September (GEDEON Publication).

Cyber-Crime to be aired on March 10, 2009 in exclusivity on France 5 |
|
Over the last ten years, access to the internet has spread to just about everyone. As the world's major powers are preparing for cyber warfare, intelligence services are recruiting computer hackers to be the vanguards in these cyber conflicts.
Spams, fraud, zombie computer attacks and destructive viruses have become ordinary devices to make lots of money at the expense of internet users and corporations. Cyber-crime is as multifaceted as the internet itself – a chaotic place allowing for ever more amazing expressions of individual or collective creativity. We carry out our investigation in various hot spots - Russia, the US, Estonia and Israel - where the fight between hackers and government has been going on for a while. We meet astonishing characters like “Captain Crunch,” who invented computer piracy in the 1970s, or the Badir Brothers, three visually-impaired Palestinians who managed to infiltrate the computer system of Tsahal, the Israeli Army.
Cyber Warfare shows how the illicit industry of malware has created an arsenal of weapons of massive disruption and explains why the people who control these weapons will decide the outcome of the next war.
